She Comes With the Storm is about a woman whose power does not need to be softened to make other people comfortable.
 
She stands beneath a dark, electric sky as the storm gathers around her, but despite her fear she faces what’s coming, steady, as though the wind, rain, and lightning are not forces acting against her. They belong to her.
 
I wanted this painting to hold both danger and control. She is not waiting to be rescued, and she is not asking permission to take up space. She arrives with all of her intensity intact.
 
To me, She Comes With the Storm is a reminder that strength does not always look calm or gentle, sometimes it is loud, unruly, and impossible to ignore. Sometimes the storm is not something you simply survive. Sometimes it is something you carry with you.
