A fox rests in a meadow overflowing with flowers, completely at ease beneath the open sky. She is not searching, running, or watching for what might come next. For once, she has allowed herself to simply be there. Sweet Serenity is about the kind of peace that can only be found when you stop trying to force it. The world around her is vibrant and full, but she remains soft within it. I think that is what I love most about this painting: serenity does not require the world to become empty or silent. Sometimes it means finding a place where you feel safe enough to slow down.
